CALL FOR PAPERS

IEEE COMMUNICATIONS MAGAZINE
FEATURE TOPIC:

Management of Next-Generation Wireless Networks and Services

Next generation wireless systems will be drastically more complex than
today's so called second-generation wireless systems. Global roaming and
Internet/data everywhere are among the key driving factors that will have
profound impact on how these networks will be managed. In this changing
environment, the operators will introduce new services and more powerful and
efficient way of doing business by integrating new technologies with
existing ones. Not only the networks elements, communication devices will be
evolved but also the management systems and way of managing. Another key
issue that will have a significant effect on the “management” is how to
manage “future” profitably.

This feature topic will address the above issues and will include articles
discussing the operators’ needs and vendors visions to manage the next
generation wireless networks and services. Papers will focus on technical
problems, solutions and strategy that specific to management of
next-generation wireless networks that is being shaped by the convergence of
computing and communication technologies. Possible topics include, but not
limited to:

- Application of advanced network management technologies to future wireless
networks
- Management Paradigms for future wireless networks and services
- Managing pervasive computing based wireless networks, ad-hoc wireless
networks and wireless indoor networks such as wLAN/Bluetooth networks
- Operational aspects; Business process orientation/applications, new
business models, process management, workflow
- Management framework/architecture/platform for emerging technologies when
introducing future wireless networks and services
- Billing, new ways of charging
- Current network management standardization activities for wireless
systems,

Prospective authors should e-mail their manuscripts as a postscript or pdf
attachment to the guest editors by May 15, 2002. (Please see
