Special Issue:
Engineering the Next Generation Optical Internet
Submission deadline: 30 January 2002
The rapid advance in both the Internet and WDM technology are driving the
need to design and implement the next generation Optical Internet that is
ubiquitous and scalable. Ongoing efforts include the development of
G-MPLS (generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching) for traffic
engineering purposes and optical packet/burst switching technologies to
achieve ultimate integration of IP and WDM.
Many research issues related to the joint engineering of IP and WDM
layers are still open. The topics in integrated IP/WDM networks to be
covered by this special issue will include but are not limited to
a.. Control planes and frameworks
b.. Traffic engineering
c.. QoS support
d.. Multicasting
e.. Protection/ restoration
f.. Optical packet/burst switching technologies
Manuscripts should be double-spaced, not longer than 20 pages, excluding
figures, tables, and references. Each manuscript should include the list
of authors with their affiliations, and full contact
information. Submissions should also include a 200-300 word abstract and
a list of up to five keywords or phrases.
If the submission contains previously published material, the editor of
this special issue, must be notified at the time of submission. No
article published in or currently submitted to other journals,
conferences, or books can be considered for publication. Revised or
